When I first opened the package from them, I did the typical new item test. My new item test out of the package always includes the following: 1) was there any snagging in the material? 2) Was the zipper (if there is one, in this case there is one) functional? 3) Most importantly did it fit? … No snags, the zipper worked, and the hat fit.
Once everything looked “all good”, it was time to take the hat on a trial run. For me it was perfect, since Tuesday nights are my running group meet ups. The weather was cold and we run after the sun goes does. Right away I would be able to test all 3 parts of the purpose of the hat, 1) will it keep me warm? 2) will it be visible? 3) will the pocket be fully functional.
Right after jumping out of the car, I had to store my car key somewhere, so what a perfect way than to put my key in the hat and zip it up. Like magic, it worked, I didn’t have to worry about my shoes coming untied and losing my key or my key falling out of my running shorts pocket (which it as done before). Even before getting out on the run with the group, the weather was already a bit chilly out and right away I noticed that my ears didn’t get cold like they do with other hats I have tried wearing before in colder weather. Then came the safety aspect providing a little more reflective gear while running in low lit settings, because our running group workouts on commercial streets, it is important to be seen by people going in and out of the local businesses. While holding the hat away from my head, it clearly provided enough reflective material on the hat to provide runners with additional safety of being visible.
This hat is a definite winner in my books and gets 2 thumbs up!

ReplyDeleteWarmth while not being bulky. I shave my head so I don't have the usual insulation that many other people have so running when it's cold has been a bother unless I have something to keep my head warm. This hat looks great!

ReplyDeleteI'm on a visibility kick lately - as my training groups are all in the evening. My interest is also piqued about running with a pocket on my head. Will my keys jingle or does it stay snug?
ReplyDelete@Disney Bride and Groom, for me the key did not jiggle around. However, I only run with a key either to my car or to my house, never the whole group of keys together.
